Trump's remarks came during a television interview with Fox News on Thursday, coinciding with heightened tension between Washington and Tehran, reaching its peak in weeks.
In related news, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed the existence of open negotiation channels with the political leadership in Tehran, as well as with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Political analysts indicate that the Revolutionary Guard adopts a more "extreme" stance compared to the political leadership, causing diplomatic negotiations to stall on numerous occasions.
On Thursday, the U.S. military conducted airstrikes against Iranian targets for the second consecutive day this week, stating that they were in response to "ongoing, unjustified Iranian aggression."
