U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Israeli authorities to act with wisdom and rationality in their military engagements in Lebanon, while simultaneously reiterating his support for Israel’s right to defend itself.
Speaking to reporters alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G7 Summit, Trump emphasized his desire for Israel to safeguard its security, but noted the importance of prudent military actions.
These remarks come amidst ongoing tensions on the Lebanese front, accompanied by international concerns over the potential escalation and its impact on regional stability.
In another development, President Trump disclosed that his administration is reviewing a request from Ukraine for authorization to manufacture missiles for the American MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems.
Trump detailed that Kyiv seeks this opportunity to enhance its defense capabilities, noting that the U.S. administration is currently considering the request but has not reached a final decision.
The Patriot systems are regarded as premier air defense systems globally and have played a pivotal role in safeguarding Ukrainian airspace in recent years.
Trump’s statements highlight the continuing U.S. engagement with two key foreign policy issues: Middle East security developments and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as Washington attempts to simultaneously manage both regional and international challenges.
