Khamenei Comments on US-Iran Agreement

On Thursday evening, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei addressed the Iranian public regarding the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. He emphasized that the agreement was reached following official commitments to safeguard Iranian people's rights and national interests.

Khamenei explained that concerned officials had made extensive efforts to achieve this milestone. He pointed out that the United States resorted to various pressure tactics during the negotiations, which he described as a sign of their desperation.

The Supreme Leader admitted having initial reservations about the agreement. However, he accepted it based on assurances from Iranian President Masoud Bezshkian, in his capacity as head of the Supreme National Security Council, on behalf of the council members, to protect Iranian rights and the so-called "Resistance Front."

Khamenei highlighted that the Iranian president assured him of rejecting any additional demands or new pressures that the US might attempt to impose in the future.

He stressed that the current focus will be on monitoring the implementation of the conditions outlined in the agreement. Khamenei made clear that any future direct negotiations between the two sides do not imply acceptance of the other's positions or a retreat from Iranian principles.

Khamenei concluded his message with hopes for positive outcomes for the Iranian people in the upcoming phase. He reaffirmed a commitment to national interests and Iranian sovereignty in any future negotiations.

This address follows the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, marking a new phase of political and security negotiations amid regional and international anticipation regarding the future of relations between the two countries and the agreement's impact on regional stability.
