Trump Issues Stern Warning to Iran: Cease Lebanon Activities or Face Renewed Strikes

President Donald Trump issued a series of direct threats to Iran on Sunday during an interview with Fox News, in response to comments from Iranian President Masoud Beshikyan affirming Iran's commitment to uranium enrichment.

Addressing Beshikyan, Trump stated: "He’d better watch his words or we’ll take over the rest of the country," emphasizing that he retains "multiple options" if Iranians do not present serious commitments at the negotiation table. Trump criticized the memorandum of understanding as merely "an extension of a ceasefire and not a final agreement."

On regional matters, Trump demanded on Sunday that Tehran prevent its allies in Lebanon from "causing trouble," under threat of resuming strikes on its territory amid ongoing negotiations in Switzerland between the two nations.

Trump revealed steps towards "handing the Hezbollah issue to Syria", expressing his intent to "empower Syrian President Ahmed Sharaa."

Trump also took to his social media platform, Truth Social, referencing the confrontations between Israel and "Hezbollah" and stated: "Iran must immediately stop its generously backed proxies in Lebanon from causing trouble. If not, we will strike Iran again with greater force, just as we did last week, but stronger!"

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump proposed that the United States serve as the "guardian angel" of the strait in exchange for 20% of the oil.

He issued a stern warning to Iran, saying: "If you close the Strait of Hormuz, you won’t have a country, and you won't even be able to return to yours," adding that he might seize the strait and "bomb Iran severely" if necessary.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance commented on the situation in Lebanon as experiencing "significant improvement and a slowdown in fighting pace."

He added: "President Donald Trump has tasked us with seeing a comprehensive ceasefire in the region, and we are pleased with the progress made in Lebanon, noting significant strides in the last three days with the ceasefire in Lebanon."
