The Lebanese authorities have commenced the transfer of the second batch of convicted Syrian prisoners from Roumieh Prison to Syria, following the completion of legal and administrative procedures.
Several months ago, Lebanon and Syria signed an agreement for the transfer of convicted Syrians to Damascus. This agreement involves approximately 300 convicts and aims to alleviate overcrowding in Lebanese prisons.
In March, the first batch of Syrian prisoners was transferred to Syria, which involved handing over around 137 inmates from Roumieh Prison.
