Israel has intensified its rhetoric towards Turkey, with Innovation, Science and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel labeling Ankara as the "most prominent future threat" to Israel. She pointed to Turkey's regional ambitions and expanding influence as a security challenge requiring preparation across multiple levels.
This escalation coincides with a diplomatic move led by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who plans to propose a resolution for the official recognition of what Israel calls the "Armenian Genocide." This move is seen as escalating tensions with Ankara.
These developments align with growing Israeli concerns over the increasing U.S.-Turkey rapprochement, especially following Washington's approval to support Turkish military programs. Tel Aviv worries about Turkey’s potential re-entry into the F-35 fighter program, which could boost its defense capabilities.
Conversely, Turkey has rejected Israeli accusations, affirming that Israel remains the main obstacle to de-escalation efforts in the region. Turkey has called on the international community to take more decisive steps to prevent any attempts to undermine regional understandings, stressing its commitment to stability and diplomatic solutions.
