Warning Signs: Don't Ignore Cough and Shortness of Breath!

Dr. Alexander Myasnikov revealed that sudden shortness of breath accompanied by swelling in one leg may be an indication of pulmonary embolism.

Dr. Myasnikov stated, "One of the key warning signs of pulmonary embolism is the appearance of swelling in one leg along with shortness of breath." He explained that "this could indicate a blood clot has traveled to the lungs, causing a blockage in a branch of the pulmonary artery, a life-threatening condition."
He further added, "Coughing up blood, along with a sudden drop in blood oxygen levels in the absence of known lung diseases, are other indicators of this condition," emphasizing that "failure to diagnose and treat pulmonary embolism promptly may lead to death in a short period."

He also explained that "pulmonary thromboembolism occurs when the pulmonary artery or one of its branches is blocked by a blood clot that has separated from the veins of the lower limbs." He stressed the "need for immediate treatment of diagnosed patients with blood thinners."
