Syrian Security Captures Top ISIS Leader

Syrian security forces have successfully apprehended a prominent leader of the ISIS group along with several of its members, following the dismantling of cells affiliated with the organization. This was reported by a source from the Ministry of Interior to the "SANA" news agency, noting that the operation is part of ongoing security efforts to track down ISIS cells.

The source added that the dismantled cells were implicated in assassination crimes and robbery operations, as well as activities related to funding the organization. They reaffirmed that security agencies will continue to pursue those involved and take legal action against them.

ISIS had claimed responsibility on Wednesday for the murder of Rashad Khalaf Al-Ghuraier, a resident of the village of Rweished in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, declaring that its members had stormed into his house and slaughtered him.

Earlier today, a correspondent for Syrian Television reported on the killing of the approximately 60-year-old Al-Ghuraier by unknown gunmen in the town of Rweished, suggesting that suspicion was directed towards ISIS for the crime.
