In a unanimous decision, including approval from the Shiite duo ministers, the Lebanese Cabinet has consented to a directive under the heading "Notification of Consent," concerning ongoing direct Lebanese-Israeli negotiations taking place in Washington.
The decision was framed as "Notification of Consent," with the Cabinet collectively entrusting, or authorizing, the negotiating delegation in Washington to do "whatever necessary to achieve the desired outcome," emphasizing that any resultant agreement from these negotiations "is subject to Cabinet approval."
The document endorsed by the Cabinet, and signed by Secretary-General of the Cabinet Judge Mahmoud Makkieh, states: "The Cabinet acknowledges the delegation of authority granted by the President, in agreement with the Prime Minister, to the negotiating team in Washington, D.C. (United States of America), tasking them to perform necessary actions to attain the desired outcome, under their supervision, with the understanding that any agreement arising from these discussions requires Cabinet approval, as per Article 52 of the Constitution."
