Allegations Surface: Was Mossad Trying to Recruit Ahmadinejad?

The 'New York Times', citing informed sources, has reported claims that former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is under house arrest by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's intelligence service. This move allegedly stems from contacts with Israel.

According to the report, starting in 2024, Israel supposedly began establishing a secret communication channel with Ahmadinejad as part of a broader plan to leverage him in case of political changes in Iran.

The report adds that these interactions included undisclosed meetings during foreign visits, as well as alleged logistical and financial support, along with other plans that were never realized. The operation ceased with the onset of recent military confrontations.

The report indicates that Iranian authorities have intensified their surveillance of Ahmadinejad's movements recently, especially after he publicly addressed letters to U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This raised suspicions within Iranian security agencies.

According to the newspaper, Ahmadinejad has only appeared publicly during the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral, under heavy security. Iranian sources have been cited saying he is currently under house arrest.
