U.S. President Donald Trump declared that he does not trust Iran, while asserting that the United States currently has 'full control' over the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters at the Andrews Joint Base in Maryland after returning from a campaign stop in Ohio, Trump stated: 'I don't trust Iran. Do you suggest I should trust Iran? I am the last person who would trust Iran.' He added: 'They have continuously lied to me.'
Trump continued: 'We now have complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. They do not control it. We have total control. It's under our command.'
He further mentioned: 'At some point, they might do something destructive, but right now we are in a very good position.'
Trump described the Islamic Republic as having been the 'bully of the Middle East' since its establishment in 1979, but he remarked that it is 'no longer so,' according to a report by the Hebrew website 'Times of Israel.'
