Lebanon's Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, recently wrapped up his visit to Egypt after attending the International Islamic Conference hosted by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide in Cairo. The conference focused on "Family Challenges Amid Major Transformations."
During the conference, Mufti Derian and the participating delegations met with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, who expressed his wishes for "peace, security, and stability" for Lebanon and its people.
Emphasizing the importance of bolstering relations, Mufti Derian highlighted the need for enhanced coordination and communication between Lebanon's Dar al-Fatwa, Al-Azhar, Egypt's Dar al-Ifta, and the Ministry of Endowments for the benefit of both nations. He praised Egypt's dedication to Lebanon's sovereignty and unity, as well as its prominent role in supporting Lebanese and regional stability.
Mufti Derian affirmed that "Lebanon's salvation can only be achieved through cooperation and solidarity with its Arab environment, chiefly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Gulf Cooperation Council."
