The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities announced on "X":
The Cabinet, in today's session, approved a draft decree submitted by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities to amend the value of grants and compensation provided to mukhtars from the Cooperative Fund for Mukhtars as defined by Decree 5729/2019 (System of Services for Mukhtars in Lebanon).
This amendment comes in light of significant changes in the exchange rate, which had previously meant these compensations were based on the minimum wage, rendering them inadequate within the current economic and living conditions, thereby necessitating a review to protect the rights of mukhtars.
These compensations will be paid according to a mechanism determined by the Cooperative Fund for Mukhtars' Board of Directors, in line with its financial capability.
Minister Ahmad Hajjar emphasized that this decision stems from the Ministry's belief in the importance of the role played by the mukhtar and the necessity to ensure fairness and protect their rights.
