U.S. President Donald Trump launched another critique against Spain on Sunday, criticizing its approach to immigration and describing the country as one that 'has no control over its borders.'
In a post on 'Truth Social,' Trump stated, 'It is very sad what is happening in Spain, a country with no control over its borders.'
The day before, Trump slammed Spain during an interview with Britain’s 'GB News,' characterizing the migrant influx to the city of Ceuta in late July as an 'invasion of a country,' and claiming the situation at Ceuta’s borders reflects a failure in immigration management. He also warned that Spain is on the path to becoming 'a bankrupt country.'
Earlier this month, Ceuta and several Spanish cities witnessed massive protests involving hundreds of thousands of citizens urging Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's government to take measures against illegal immigration amid the migrant surge in Ceuta.
These events have heightened concerns across Europe, prompting several EU officials to criticize Spain’s immigration policy.
On Friday, authorities in various EU member countries, including Italy, Czech Republic, Finland, and Denmark, called for a temporary suspension of Spain's membership in the Schengen Area.
