Rumors circulating on WhatsApp suggested that the residence of a prominent security official in the Salim Salam area of Beirut was subjected to gunfire.
However, MTV News sources have confirmed that these claims are false. The incident is actually linked to a personal dispute that occurred last week in the Salim Salam area. The altercation arose over road right-of-way between two citizens and escalated into gunfire from a firearm owned by an individual from the Zokak al-Blat area. This incident happened nearby the residence of the security official, which was not targeted at all.
Following the incident, MTV has learned that Lebanon's Internal Security Forces' Information Branch has taken action to arrest the shooter.
