TikTok has launched a new campaign to promote positivity and inclusivity on the platform, as well as to combat cyberbullying, with the aim of fostering a more open and supportive community, according to a report published by Social Media Today. The campaign, called #CreateKindness, will feature a series of animated videos produced by various TikTok content creators, aiming to share their real and personal stories through the app.
In a statement, TikTok said: "We value the trust of our community at TikTok and are working hard to maintain it by creating an inclusive environment. Bullying behavior harms the trust-based nature of the app by damaging people's self-confidence. Although interactions within the app may seem harmless to some, we recognize that people's online experiences linger and do not always disappear once they close the app. Therefore, we greatly value the stories coming from our community about their experiences, and we are investing in measures to help keep TikTok a place where kindness and empathy thrive."
TikTok holds a unique position among other social media platforms given its immense popularity among younger audiences and the public and open nature of videos. The design of TikTok is focused on broadcasting to a wide audience and engaging in the latest trends rather than sharing content solely with close friends.
