The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: On June 21, 2021, information was received by the Central Anti-Narcotics Office in the Judicial Police Unit regarding a group of individuals preparing to smuggle "Captagon" pills into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hidden professionally inside medical sterilization machines, which were seized. Upon inspection, /17.4/ kg of Captagon pills (approximately one hundred thousand pills) were found.
As a result of extensive investigations and surveillance operations, the aforementioned office identified the identities of those involved and arrested two of them on June 22, 2021, namely:
- A.N. (born in 1988, Lebanese)
- M.N. (born in 1996, Lebanese)
On June 23, 2021, the regional Anti-Narcotics Office in Zahle arrested their accomplice, named:
- A.G. (born in 1982, Syrian)
During the investigation, they confessed to preparing and planning the smuggling operation of the Captagon quantity to Saudi Arabia. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
