Abu Dhabi Police has warned the public about offers that have recently reached many members of the community, promoting services for trading in "cryptocurrencies." The police urged the public to exercise caution and not to be lured by promises of quick and unrealistic financial gains. Major General Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of the Criminal Security Sector, emphasized the importance of not sharing personal information or complying with calls, messages, and advertisements from unknown sources, which often claim to be licensed companies or platforms for trading cryptocurrencies.
He noted that some scammers entice clients with the prospect of obtaining large sums of money through cryptocurrency trading and by receiving financial transfers from suspicious sources. He stressed the need to avoid buying and trading this electronic currency, which consists of virtual units not backed by tangible assets and which does not require any conditions or regulations for issuance.
Colonel Rashid Khalaf Al Dhaheri, Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Investigative Services, confirmed Abu Dhabi Police's interest in warning all segments of society about the risks of falling into the hands of fraudsters. He assured that efforts are being made to tighten the grip on scammers, apprehend them, and confront their evolving criminal methods with advanced security measures. He also highlighted the collaborative efforts of all concerned departments within Abu Dhabi Police to combat these crimes, regardless of their forms, types, and methods of perpetration.
