Officially... Rangnick appointed as Manchester United coach with an additional role

Under the title "Officially... Manchester United appoints Rangnick in two roles," Sky News reported on the new coach of the Red Devils. The site noted that after days of negotiations, Manchester United announced on Monday the appointment of German Ralph Rangnick as interim coach until the end of the season, following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eight days earlier. The club stated: "Manchester United is pleased to announce the appointment of Ralph Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to obtaining the required work visa. After his mission ends, United and Ralph have agreed for him to remain as a consultant for two more years."

Rangnick will replace the former coach Solskjaer, who was dismissed after a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Watford earlier this month, marking the team's seventh loss in 13 matches across all competitions, leaving them in eighth place in the Premier League. Former midfielder and one of Solskjaer's assistants, Michael Carrick, led the team to victory over Villarreal in the Champions League last Tuesday and oversaw the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. Carrick will continue to lead the first team until Rangnick (63 years old) completes the process of obtaining the work visa.

Rangnick began his coaching career in the early 1980s and is known for his energy-intensive playing style, high pressing, and intensity, which has many fans. The 63-year-old coach will join United from Russian Lokomotiv Moscow, where he held the position of director of sports and development. He stated: "The team is full of talent and has a great balance between youth and experience. All my efforts over the next six months will be to help these players achieve their potential at the individual level, and more importantly, as a team."

Rangnick concluded: "Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club's long-term goals based on my future role as a consultant." The "Red Devils" are currently in eighth place in the Premier League with 18 points, trailing leaders Chelsea by 12 points after their 1-1 draw on Sunday.
