Egyptian star Amina Khalil sparked controversy in recent weeks after appearing on the program "AB talks," hosted by Anas Boukhch, where she predominantly spoke English instead of Arabic. This decision drew criticism over why she chose to speak in that language despite the program being aimed at an Arabic-speaking audience.
Amina Khalil justified her choice to speak in English during the "AB talks" episode, explaining in an interview with "ET بالعربي" that she was born in the United States, making English the first language she learned to speak. While she is capable of communicating in both Arabic and English, she sometimes finds it easier to express herself in English.
Frustrated by the backlash, Amina Khalil expressed her displeasure regarding the criticism she received for speaking English. She emphasized that everyone has their own personality, life, and background, and it's unfair to judge someone for speaking a different language.
She added, "Don't judge me just because I can speak English... Sometimes it's simply easier for me to express myself in English, and there are certain things that need to be said in Arabic as they are."
In a different context, Amina Khalil announced during the interview her latest projects, which are set to air during the upcoming Ramadan, highlighting her collaboration with actor Amir Karara in a new series directed by Ahmed Nader Galal, with filming set to commence soon.
The Egyptian actress had also mentioned in her interview with Anas Boukhch that she faced rejection in one of her romantic relationships due to her career as an actress. She noted that she, along with her current generation, is striving to break the stereotypical image of actresses and is making efforts not to repeat past mistakes in the future. Moreover, she is currently seeking psychological therapy to help her overcome some of the negative experiences she faced, including the failures in her romantic relationships.
