Washington Plans to Resume Aid to the Palestinian People

US State Department spokesman Ned Price affirmed that Washington intends to resume humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, marking a reversal of former President Donald Trump's decision to suspend this support.

Price clarified in a press briefing on Tuesday that the United States plans to reinstate humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, emphasizing that this decision is not a favor but is in the interest of the United States. It is noteworthy that Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stressed during talks with his American counterpart on Thursday the importance of the US announcement regarding the intention to restore aid programs for Palestinians and the necessity of reopening diplomatic missions that were closed previously, noting the positive impact this would have on revitalizing peace efforts.

In the same context, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh announced that official contacts had been made with the new US administration, represented by Hadi Amro, the official in charge of Palestinian and Israeli affairs at the US State Department. Shtayyeh stated: "Discussions were held on ways to restore Palestinian-American relations, particularly regarding the opening of diplomatic and consular offices, the resumption of US aid, support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and ways to advance the political process."
