A number of workers in restaurants and cafés in Tripoli held a protest in Nour Square with the participation of their families,
in response to the exclusion of their establishments from the decision allowing certain sectors to partially resume work in the second phase of precautionary measures against the health crisis. The National News Agency reported that the protesters pointed out the social and living repercussions on their conditions if the closure of these establishments continues, depriving their employees and workers of their daily incomes, which would lead to their inability to provide for their families' needs, especially in securing food and medicine for their children. The protesters highlighted that employees and workers in the hospitality and tourism sector have become scapegoats, with no one recognizing the tragedies they face and the economic and living difficulties they endure, without receiving any justice from the authorities. The Ministry of Tourism had previously allowed restaurants to operate 24 hours a day, but only through delivery services and drive-thru, while keeping the dining areas completely closed and not allowing customers inside the establishments, based on decision No. 96/م ص issued on February 6, 2021, by the Prime Minister's office regarding updating the strategy to confront the coronavirus and the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions.
