The Ministry of Environment has warned of an increased risk of forest fires, especially as the weekend approaches. Fire danger maps issued by the Fire Laboratory at the University of Balamand indicate a severe risk of uncontrollable fires that may spread suddenly and rapidly.
In its statement, the ministry noted that most areas exposed to fire risk are located throughout Lebanon, particularly in the northern, southern, and Bekaa regions. Consequently, the Ministry of Environment urges citizens and relevant authorities to adhere to the attached guidelines, especially refraining from using any source of fire near any vegetation cover, such as burning dried grass and using fireworks. It is essential to maintain strict and careful monitoring of areas with "high" fire risk, enhance preparedness to the utmost level, and seek immediate assistance from all relevant authorities if control over any fire is lost.
