Egyptian artist Amr Youssef has returned to drama after a two-year absence with his new work "The King," adapted from the novel "The Struggle of Thebes" by the Nobel Prize-winning author Naguib Mahfouz.

Media outlets have released new photos from the filming of Amr Youssef's latest project "The King," which will be aired during the upcoming Ramadan. The photos depict the palace of King Ahmose, where the story takes place, with the cast continuing their shoot, including actor Mohamed Farag, the lead, and actress Reem Mostafa, along with other stars.

The cast features several notable actors including Saba Mubarak, Sossan Badr, Magdy El-Masry, Mohamed Alaa, Reem Mostafa, Mohamed Lotfy, Amir Salah, Basel El-Zaro, Moataz Hisham, among others. The work is written by Khaled and Sherine Diab and directed by Hussein Al-Munbaawy.

The series includes wars, horseback riding, costumes, and decorations, and is classified as one of the largest productions for Ramadan 2021. It revolves around the story of Ahmose and his liberation of Upper and Lower Egypt and the expulsion of the Hyksos from Thebes. It is also regarded as the first realistic pharaonic work for the modern generation that accurately depicts the lives of the pharaohs. "The King" is produced by Synergy Company.

It is worth noting that Amr Youssef's last series was "Taye’," aired during Ramadan in 2018, where he starred alongside Saba Mubarak, Amr Abdel Gelil, Ahmed Dash, Soheir El-Murshedy, Mai El-Ghaity, Ahmed Abdullah Mahmoud, Ali Qassem, Salwa Mohamed Ali, Rushdy El-Shami, and Mahmoud Hafiz, written by Mohamed, Khaled, and Sherine Diab, and directed by Amr Salama.
