Pope Francis issued a message on the second anniversary of the Beirut port explosion, wishing for Lebanon to continue on the path of "new birth." He said, "Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of the explosion at the port of Beirut. I direct my thoughts to the families of the victims of this catastrophic event and to the dear Lebanese people, and I pray that God comforts everyone with faith and that justice and truth, which can never be hidden, will support them." The Pope continued: "I hope that Lebanon, with the help of the international community, will continue on the path of 'new birth' and remain faithful to its calling to be a land of peace and plurality, where communities of different religions can live in brotherhood."
