Salim Sabri: I Refuse to Watch Any Drama Featuring Zuhair Ramadan

The Syrian actor Salim Sabri broke his silence during his interview with "Vuze FM," stating that the current head of the artists' syndicate, Zuhair Ramadan, operates on the principle of "Vote for me and that's it," considering that the syndicate elections were not fair at all.

Sabri added that artists made the syndicate, not the other way around, placing blame on the syndicate for several issues, particularly regarding its neglect of artists. He pointed out that his pension from the syndicate is only 30,000 Syrian pounds. The actor continued by saying that he did not follow the comedy series "Deyaa Dayaa," attributing the reason to Zuhair Ramadan's presence in the project, asserting that he refuses to participate in any production featuring the syndicate's head.

Regarding his recent absence from theater and cinema, the artist admitted that he is more of an outsider than absent, stating that he has not received offers from those concerned. He added that the media has been neglectful of him, considering that it focuses on a specific group while ignoring others, and has not highlighted his honors and achievements throughout his career.

When discussing new dramas, he expressed that they have become commercial and aimless, serving only for entertainment, unlike the works during his time, which had meaningful goals and messages. He sent a message to writers and authors, urging them to pay attention to societal issues and write true and realistic scripts, believing that the script is the essential element that determines the success or failure of a work.

Sabri also noted that "wasta" (preferential treatment) is a reason for the decline of Syrian drama, alongside commercial producers, writers, and directors. The Syrian artist stated that he does not accept asking directors for work, even though he currently does not have a leading role, as per his description, and he does not know the reason behind it.

As for the series "Shari'a Chicago," Sabri indicated that he refuses to work with director Mohamed Abdel Aziz if he continues with this indecent approach, as he expressed.
