Samsung Electronics announced yesterday, Tuesday, that it will unveil its Galaxy S21 FE smartphone equipped with 5G services at the Consumer Electronics Show, set to open today, Wednesday, in Las Vegas, USA. This phone is among the most anticipated Samsung devices due to its outstanding performance and reasonable prices. The company stated that the phone will be launched "in the United States and other major markets" on January 11, with prices starting at $699.
The long-awaited phone’s launch was delayed, as it was widely expected to be released last summer, due to the global chip shortage that disrupted the production of vehicles and devices worldwide. As indicated by the phone name containing the letters "FE," an abbreviation for "Fan Edition," it comes equipped with the main features of the Galaxy S21 series that fans love, but at an affordable price.
Kim Seong-yoon, Vice President of the Mobile eXperience marketing team at the company, said: "The philosophy of the 'Fan Edition' is to bring the premium 'Galaxy' experience to a broader range of consumers," during an event held yesterday, one day before the official opening of the exhibition. She added that Samsung expects the new model to be as successful as its predecessor, the Galaxy S20 FE, of which over 10 million units were sold worldwide since its launch in September 2020, with prices also starting from $699.
She confirmed that the company will determine whether to release the model in South Korea "depending on demand." The new phone is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chip or Samsung's Exynos chip, depending on the market. It features either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, and either 128 GB or 256 GB of storage.
The new phone runs on the One UI 4 based on Google’s Android 12. The device measures 7.9 mm in thickness and weighs 177 grams, making it lighter than the previous Galaxy S20 FE. It comes in four colors: olive green, lavender, white, and graphite. The phone features a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, three rear cameras with a 12-megapixel wide sensor and 8-megapixel telephoto lenses.
The new device supports dual recording, allowing users to record videos using both the rear and front cameras simultaneously. The battery capacity is 4,500 mAh, and the company stated it "can be used all day with 25W fast charging for 30 minutes."
