The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, urged French President Emmanuel Macron to stop issuing rushed and ill-considered statements.
Fars News Agency clarified that the spokesperson's comments came in response to President Macron's statements to Al Arabiya regarding avoiding the mistakes of 2015 when regional powers were excluded from the agreement with Iran, and his emphasis on the necessity of including Saudi Arabia in any discussions about the agreement with Iran. The agency conveyed that Khatibzadeh called on the French president to avoid unbalanced and unstudied positions, asserting that the nuclear agreement is multilateral, supported by the Security Council, and cannot be renegotiated, with its parties being specified and unchangeable. He pointed out that activating this agreement is straightforward and requires Washington's return to the deal and the lifting of its sanctions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that if French officials are concerned about Paris selling such a volume of arms to Persian Gulf states, it would be better for them to reconsider their country's policies. Khatibzadeh added that French and Western weapons have not only led to the deaths of thousands of Yemenis but also are the main cause of instability in the sensitive Persian Gulf region.
