The Istanbul governor's office announced today, Friday, that Turkish security forces seized one billion fake dollars in the city and arrested six individuals involved in the operation, including a Ghanaian citizen and three Swedes. The office added that the security forces tracked the suspects to a warehouse in the Kagithane area of Istanbul, where counterfeit $100 bills intended for African countries were discovered. Authorities searched the suspects' homes and confiscated their cash and jewelry. The Swedish and Ghanaian consulates have been notified. The office noted that the seized shipment of fake money is the largest in Turkey's history.
