The Wimbledon runner-up last year, Ons Jabeur, stated that "former English football star David Beckham inspired her to play tennis brilliantly." She joked, "I probably enjoyed hugging Beckham more than winning against Bai. Don't tell my husband, but I really enjoyed the hug and the very nice conversation with him."
She explained that she discussed various topics with the England captain and former midfielder of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain, including football and tennis in general, and Beckham expressed interest in watching some matches in the United States.
Ons added, "I love meeting these athletes because I believe I can learn a lot from them. I hope to meet him many more times."
