A source in the Canadian government reported today, Thursday, that Canada and South Korea will hold talks regarding an information security agreement to facilitate the exchange of intelligence information, enhance security ties, and enable Canadian companies to secure certain procurement contracts. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly will announce the talks during an official visit to Seoul later this week, followed by a visit to Tokyo, after Canada announced a similar information exchange agreement with Japan last October. The source stated, "In light of the current challenges to global security and the rules-based international order, this cooperation is of paramount importance."
