The Tunisian Central Bank announced today, Friday, that it "has kept the main interest rate unchanged at eight percent." The bank stated in a release: "Current trends in monetary policy are expected to contribute to supporting the easing of inflation in the upcoming period." In December, the Tunisian Central Bank raised the main interest rate by 75 basis points to eight percent to combat high inflation, marking the third interest rate hike last year. The annual inflation rate decreased to 9.6 percent in May from 10.1 percent in April, after rising to 10.4 percent in February.
