New Statement from Banks... Will They Reopen?

The Association of Banks in Lebanon held a meeting to discuss the necessity of ensuring the continuity of customer service, taking into account the current difficult security situation and the need to maintain the safety of both customers and employees, given the lack of adequate protection from the state. Accordingly, the association decided that banks would resume their operations starting Monday, September 26, 2022, through channels defined by each bank for transactions related to commercial, educational, and healthcare institutions, among others, as well as through ATMs for everyone. This will allow customers to make deposits and withdrawals and facilitate the payment of public sector salaries following their transfer to banks from the Central Bank of Lebanon, as well as salaries for the private sector that are deposited with them. Customers needing urgent assistance can contact the relevant bank's head office or its customer service department to address any other urgent needs as quickly as possible.
