Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett decided to vote in favor of approving the maritime border demarcation deal with Lebanon after a period of hesitation. Bennett states that it is appropriate to approve the deal as soon as possible, even though the current government is a temporary one. He says the deal "is not a historic diplomatic victory, but it is also not a surrender agreement." He adds, "Not everything that is good for Lebanon is bad for Israel; sometimes a positive outcome can be reached for both parties." All members of the security cabinet will vote to refer the deal to a full cabinet vote, except for Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, who abstained from voting and pledged to vote against it if it is not presented for a full vote in the Knesset.
