Child Shoots Teacher Inside School

A six-year-old child was taken into custody after firing a gun at his teacher in an elementary school in the United States, resulting in serious injuries to the teacher, according to the police. This tragedy occurred at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia (East), about 300 kilometers south of Washington, and did not result in any other victims. Local police chief Steve Drew told the press, "He is a six-year-old child and is currently detained. This is not an accidental shooting." He explained that the victim is a young woman in her thirties and her life is at risk. George Parker, the director of Newport News schools, said, “I feel shock and frustration. We need our community’s support to ensure children do not have access to firearms.” The United States is mired in a nightmare of shootings occurring within educational institutions, which represents a tragedy that continues to unfold. In May, 19 students and two teachers were killed when a teenager opened fire at an elementary school in Texas.
