Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al-Qarni sent a video message from the International Space Station following a successful docking, aboard a spacecraft named "Crew Dragon."
Later, the astronauts appeared as they were warmly welcomed by the crew of the International Space Station. The crew received Saudi astronauts @Astro_Rayyanah and @AstroAli11 on board the station to commence their scientific mission for the benefit of humanity.
In the video, astronaut Rayyanah Barnawi, the first Arab Muslim woman to reach space, began her speech saying: "Peace be upon you from space. It is a great honor for us to be on this historic journey."
While beside her, astronaut Ali Al-Qarni praised her words in the clip published by the Saudi Space Authority via its official Twitter account on Monday morning.
Ali Al-Qarni's first words in the microgravity environment were filled with gratitude to God and appreciation for the inspiring leadership for its support and empowerment of the nation’s youth.
The scientific mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the International Space Station (ISS) commenced yesterday, which includes four astronauts, among them Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al-Qarni, to conduct scientific research experiments for the benefit of humanity.
