Al-Anani: Canceling the Peace Agreement with Israel Should Be the Last Resort

Jowad Al-Anani, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Royal Court of Jordan, affirmed that Jordan is considering all future scenarios in dealing with an extremist Israeli government that insists on its views of Jordan as an alternative homeland for Palestinians. Al-Anani added that Jordan does not want to be an alternative homeland for Palestinians at all. He explained that allowing the displacement of Palestinians would effectively mean the liquidation of the Palestinian issue and Israel's control over all of Palestine.

He stated that Jordan is gradually escalating its stance in response to the increasing Israeli operations in Gaza, while also emphasizing that Jordan does not wish to engage in war at its borders. Dr. Al-Anani expressed his belief that canceling the Jordan-Israel peace agreement should be the last resort, reinforcing that Jordan's position holds that there should be space for political action and for a final resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Furthermore, the former Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that Gaza is an integral part of a single Palestinian state. He clarified that Jordan believes the safest solution is for the Palestine Liberation Organization to take responsibility for Gaza.
