Lebanon reached the podium at the conclusion of the first international tennis tournament for juniors (under 18) held at the courts of the Lebanese University of Saint Joseph, under the supervision of the international and Lebanese tennis federations and organized by "Patch Makers."
In detail, the women's doubles final resulted in a victory for the first place duo: Lebanese Leila Beshour and Russian Maria Masyanskaya, against the second-place pair, Czech Julia Housktakova and Turkish Nehir Tuna, with a score of two sets to none (6-4)(6-2). The winning duo dominated the match thanks to Beshour's powerful serves, who trains in France, along with her Russian partner.
In the men's doubles, the first place was clinched by the duo of Todor Patin (Romania) and Rentaro Sehokuda (Japan), who won against the second-place duo, Chinese Win Bo Bai and Turkish Arel Tuna, with a score of two sets to none (6-4)(6-2).
At the end of the tournament, trophies and awards were distributed to the winners by the General Secretary of the Tennis Federation, Lina Beshour, tournament director Alan Saigh, and representative of the Lebanese University of Saint Joseph, Elias Boutrous.
On another note, the second international tournament for juniors began on Monday, April 17, at the same venue, during its 32nd round, following the qualifying rounds held last Saturday and Sunday, and will continue until next Saturday. It is worth noting that the winners and runners-up of the tournament earn points to be added to their rankings on the international list for the under-18 category, with the champion earning sixty points, the runner-up thirty-six points, and both the third and fourth places eighteen points. Additionally, those reaching the quarter-finals earn ten points, while those reaching the round of 16 earn five points.
