Significant Damage to Agricultural Greenhouses in Tartus and Homs

Strong winds and floods have uprooted several greenhouses and plastic tunnels in the regions of Safsafa in Tartus and Talkhalakh in Homs, along with significant damage to agricultural lands. Many residents rely on tunnel farming and plastic greenhouses to produce early vegetables and supply the local market with various products, while this type of agriculture requires considerable investment and effort. The torrential floods in the Akkar plain caused a taxi to slide while crossing a waterlogged road in the village of Al-Joumeida, resulting in the deaths of four people, including a child. The water levels in the Al-Ghamqa river have risen with the continued heavy rainfall affecting the area. Over 30 residential homes and hundreds of hectares of farmland in the Akkar plain have been submerged, and plastic greenhouses and beehives in the villages of Khirbat al-Akrad, Tal Adas, Al-Ransiya, Al-Husn, and many other villages have been damaged.
