Thompson-Herah Appoints New Coach

The company managing Jamaican athlete Elaine Thompson-Herah, a five-time Olympic champion, announced on Monday that "Renaldo Walcott has been appointed as her new coach after she parted ways with Shanieka Osborne earlier this month." Walcott has also been coaching her compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce since the 2020 season. The relationship between the two sprinters is described as strained. According to Andy Sports Management, which represents Thompson-Herah, the "separation from Osborne was due to the collapse of negotiations over financial compensation" that Osborne sought. Thompson-Herah will begin her collaboration with Walcott less than a year before she defends her titles in the 100 meters and 200 meters at the Olympic Games in Paris.
