Ukraine Shoots Down Hypersonic Missile Launched by Russia in Airstrike

The Ukrainian army announced that "the air forces shot down one of four hypersonic missiles launched by Russia today, Friday, at a military airport in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of western Ukraine." They added on Telegram: "The Ukrainian air forces destroyed a hypersonic missile of the 'X-47' model in the Kyiv region, while the remaining missiles struck areas near the airport, damaging civilian infrastructure, and one missile hit a residential area."

Moreover, the spokesperson for the air forces, Yuri Ihnat, indicated that the attack targeted Ukrainian pilots who were about to head west for training on using F-16 fighter jets, which Kyiv hopes to receive soon.

Additionally, the governor of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Svitlana Onyshchuk, reported that a missile crashed into the yard of a family home in the Kolomyia district, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including a child who later died after being taken to the hospital. Onyshchuk wrote on Telegram, "Rescuers spared no effort, and unfortunately, they were unable to save the child's life," without specifying the number of injured.
