Brigadier Al-Qurqawi Participates in the General Assembly of the International Federation and Follows World Cup Activities

This morning, the President of the Arab and UAE Basketball Federations, Brigadier Ismail Al-Qurqawi, arrived in the Philippines to attend the General Assembly meeting of the International Basketball Federation scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday. He will also attend the opening of the World Cup and some matches of the tournament that will start on Friday, featuring three Arab teams: Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. Al-Qurqawi plans to take advantage of his presence at the World Cup to hold meetings with officials from the International Federation and leaders of Arab, continental, and international federations to discuss the future of the sport and the latest developments that have occurred recently. Al-Qurqawi has previously participated in International Federation meetings in Turkey, Switzerland, and Spain.

Additionally, Dr. Munir bin Habib, a member of the Technical Committee of the International Federation and the head coach of the national basketball team, departed early this morning to the Philippines to attend a workshop by the International Technical Committee, which will be held next Thursday. This comes less than 24 hours after his return from Taiwan, where he led the UAE team in the William Jones Cup before heading directly to the Philippines for the International Federation workshops. Bin Habib expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance in the tournament, stating that the most important aspect of their participation was the players becoming accustomed to the pressure of matches and remaining injury-free. He noted that they will continue to work and prepare for the Asian Games in China starting on September 23, where the UAE team will participate, with China being the third stop in their preparation journey for the final Asian stage following Indonesia and Taiwan.
