Israeli Army Announces Destruction of a Safe House of Sinwar in Gaza

The Israeli army announced today, Friday, that it has destroyed one of the "secret apartments" of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip, as well as the tunnels used by the movement's leaders. The Israeli army stated in a report, "In the past few weeks," the army discovered and destroyed one of Sinwar's "secret apartments" in northern Gaza.

It added that during the inspection, soldiers found a "strategic tunnel" on the first floor of the apartment. The statement mentioned that "the army explored the tunnel and reached another important tunnel that was apparently used by senior members of the military wing of Hamas." The Israeli army indicated that the tunnel was 20 meters wide and 218 meters long, equipped with ventilation, electricity, sewage, prayer rooms, and rest areas.

It confirmed that "the tunnel was constructed in a way that allows for prolonged combat." Earlier, the Israel Broadcasting Authority "Makan" reported, quoting a security source, that the Israeli army has information about the whereabouts of Yahya Sinwar. Estimates in Israel, according to "Makan", indicate what it described as "two main options" for Yahya Sinwar: the first is to wait for the Israeli army to besiege his hideout and his associates underground, then begin negotiations with Israel while "using the kidnapped Israelis as human shields, at which point he would demand a corridor for himself and other Hamas officials to escape to Egypt, and from there to a third country that agrees to host them," according to the site. The second option is to "wait for the surrender of the Hamas leadership after the Israel Defense Forces complete the mission of completely surrounding the city of Khan Younis and crushing the Hamas brigades in the city."
