Heavy artillery units stationed north of Omdurman targeted the operational Karari base this morning, Monday, hitting the deployment points of the Rapid Support Forces in several areas of the city. The skies over the capital Khartoum witnessed reconnaissance flights by the Sudanese army, accompanied by loud artillery bombardments and continuous gunfire due to the ongoing battles around the Armored Corps and the Al-Shajara military area.
Additionally, the army reported in a statement that 8 people, including two women, were killed and several others injured due to the shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on the Salama areas in Khartoum and Karari in Omdurman. Regarding the battles in the Al-Shajara military area, the army stated that its forces successfully repelled what they termed failed attempts by the Rapid Support Forces to attack the Armored Corps and the ammunition complex.
The army noted that the clashes in the Al-Shajara area resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries, as well as the destruction of 5 armored vehicles, a tank, and two vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft guns, adding that they seized 3 tanks.
In contrast, Mustafa Mohamed Ibrahim, advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, revealed that the battle is nearing its end and that their soldiers are besieging the Armored Corps. Meanwhile, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Sudan and head of UNITAMS, Volker Perthes, stated that "recent military developments are unfortunate, as the states of South and West Kordofan have managed to avoid large-scale military confrontations in populated areas over the past months," calling for an immediate cessation of all military actions and mobilization to alleviate the suffering of affected populations.
