UN Security Council Holds Emergency Meeting on Iran

The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting this afternoon, Sunday, Eastern Time, at the request of Israel to condemn the Iranian attack on it and classify the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. Israel's UN envoy, Gilad Erdan, wrote in a post on the platform X: "The Iranian attack represents a serious threat to global peace and security, and I expect the council to use all means to take concrete action against Iran." The presidency of the UN Security Council stated that the emergency meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 4 PM Eastern Time. UN Secretary-General António Guterres had condemned the Iranian attack on Israel and called for restraint and an immediate ceasefire.
