The media office of the Ministry of Agriculture announced that "as part of the ministry's commitment to the quality of imported agricultural products and their compliance with specifications, an on-site inspection was conducted on March 14, 2024, of a ship arriving from Egypt at Tripoli Port, carrying fresh potatoes intended for table use, packaged in sacks." The statement clarified that "this sensory inspection was carried out to ensure compliance with the standards set by the Ministry of Agriculture for the import of Egyptian potatoes in 2024, based on the regulatory decisions issued by the Ministry of Agriculture. Participating in the inspection were: the Head of the Northern Lebanon Agricultural Directorate Sonia Al-Abyad, Head of the Agricultural Import and Export Directorate Rania Hayek, Head of the Akkar Agricultural Directorate Taha Mustafa, Head of the Agricultural Quarantine Center at Tripoli Port Michel Deb, and Agricultural Technical Assistant Bilal Raad." The office pointed out that "the product was found to be compliant with the specifications and conditions set by the Ministry of Agriculture," noting that "the agricultural and veterinary quarantine centers at border ports continuously perform their work in sampling and ensuring that agricultural imports comply with specifications."
