Mikel Arteta, the head coach of English team Arsenal, has entered the debate surrounding Kylian Mbappe, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, and his potential departure from the French club at the end of the current season. Arteta was asked in a press conference on Friday: "Would you be interested in signing Mbappe even if we know where he is going after Paris?" The Spanish coach replied with a laugh: "Do you already know where he is going?" He added, "A player of Mbappe's caliber certainly prompts us to discuss the possibility of signing him, but as I said, he seems to be heading in a different direction."
He continued: "But why shouldn't we consider signing him! If we want to be the best team, we need to sign the best players and talents." The Arsenal manager clarified: "I haven't discussed this topic, but perhaps sporting director Edu is talking about it with the club's owners." Arteta concluded his statements: "We don't have any problems; everyone wants to play for Arsenal, at least the players we are negotiating with, due to the club's history and past achievements."
Kylian Mbappe's contract with the Parisian club ends on June 30th. Mbappe had previously confirmed in an interview with The Telegraph that he was close to moving to Arsenal after a meeting with French coach Arsène Wenger, the legendary manager of the London team.
