French star Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his unwillingness to renew his contract and his plans to leave for free next summer as his current contract expires. Mbappe has communicated his decision to the Parisian management, with an official announcement expected in the coming months before June 30, 2024.
Mbappe extended his contract with PSG in the summer of 2021 for two years, with an option for an additional year, which only he could activate until July 31 of last year, but he did not exercise it. Since moving to Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco, Mbappe has been a steady target for Real Madrid during most winter and summer transfer windows. Reports link the Parisian team's top scorer with an agreement to join the Spanish club next summer, especially as he has entered the period that allows him to negotiate with other clubs, which is the last six months of his remaining contract.
Despite being specifically linked to Real Madrid since 2021, other clubs have also expressed interest in signing him, including Liverpool, which lost two of its attacking assets in recent years, Brazilian Roberto Firmino and Senegalese Sadio Mane. Additionally, Portuguese sporting director Deco of Barcelona referred to the French star in his remarks last week.
