Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Ataf confirmed his country’s determination to provide the necessary support for the Palestinian cause in all international forums, particularly in the United Nations Security Council. This statement came during his reception in Riyadh by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as reported by a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry.
The statement added that "Ataf conveyed to the Palestinian president a message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, specifically regarding the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in general." The Algerian minister reiterated the solidarity of the Algerian people with the Palestinian people, as well as Algeria's determination to provide all necessary support to advocate for the Palestinian cause in international forums, especially in the UN Security Council.
According to the statement, "Mahmoud Abbas tasked the minister with conveying the heartfelt gratitude of the Palestinian people to the Algerian president for all the solidarity and support that the state leader has devoted to the Palestinian cause." The Palestinian Authority President expressed his "sincere appreciation and gratitude for the role Algeria plays in the Security Council, which has allowed for significant diplomatic successes in favor of the Palestinian cause."
Earlier that day, Ataf arrived in Riyadh to participate in a special meeting of the World Economic Forum.
