An official in U.S. President Joe Biden's administration announced today, Thursday, that "Washington approved the transfer of thousands of new bombs to Israel this week, but they will not be delivered before at least next year." He noted that "the approved transfer includes 1,000 bombs of the Mk82 model weighing 500 pounds and more than 1,000 small-diameter bombs and fuses for Mk80 bombs." The United States continues to supply its ally Israel with weapons despite increasing criticism of the war in Gaza. Another U.S. official stated that "the Israeli attack occurred not long after the approvals were issued." The first official mentioned that "the munitions were obtained from authorizations to send weapons to Israel that were approved long ago and will not be delivered before 2025."
